I am Nejat Sancak, a volleyball coach and sports management professional with more than 40 years devoted to advancing the game worldwide. From building championship-winning teams to mentoring the next generation of coaches, my journey has been defined by passion, discipline, and a relentless pursuit of excellence. Appointed as an FIVB Instructor in 1997, I have since led international coaching courses in over 25 countries, helping shape and inspire the global volleyball community.
My career began as a player with Galatasaray and Beşiktaş before evolving into coaching roles across Europe, Asia, and Africa. Over the past four decades, I have guided national teams such as Kenya, Montenegro, and Kazakhstan to remarkable achievements, while continuing to develop athletes and elevate programs on the international stage. Fluent in English, Russian, and Turkish, I bring a deep commitment to cultural connection, leadership, and the enduring growth of the sport I love.
Testimonials
“More repetitions in training will not increase quality unless you focus on perfection!”
“Each coach is unique—average, standard, or above standard—but only a few coaches are truly genius!”
“Overusing the pancake action in defense means the coach is super lazy and never teaches players other defensive techniques until the final option in defense: the pancake!”
“Without a clear explanation of short- and long-term objectives to the players, the training process itself is just a waste of time!”
“Statistics are like mini-skirts: they show and explain many things but never reveal the main point!”
“Without setting a tactical scheme and strategy, there will be no meaningful progress in developing any player’s skills!”
“Volleyball requires both concentration and relaxation, and coaches must organize the optimum balance between them to succeed!”
“Top-level volleyball is generally created for tall players—even in the Libero position—except for rare, out-of-standard players like Mireya Luis of Cuba, who comes once in a hundred years!”
“Players’ minds have limited capabilities under stressful conditions. Overloading them will never pay off!”
